April 4: Training Starts Today

In the dirt parking lot next to the baseball field, there are two dozen cyclists lounging by cars or on picnic tables outside the general store. The blinking traffic sign as you roll into Nicasio says that an evacuation drill is taking place today, but all I can see is cyclists.

It is a warm sunny day. And everyone is ready to start their training.

These people won’t be here when it rains tomorrow. They weren’t here in the cold in January. But they are here today.
