Summer, Electronics, and Cheeseburgers…

…are a few things that I love.

It is a bad sign to literally have a dream about cheeseburgers even though I can’t eat them. For the past two weeks I have had to restrain myself from consuming beef of any kind. A few days ago I had to go down to Five Guys and order cheeseburgers for family that had come into town. Since I have started my DOT project I have had to substitute my weekly cheeseburgers with a number of different food items that are nothing compared to cheeseburgers. I have probably eaten 20 more slices of pizza and five more grilled cheese sandwiches thanks to me not eating beef.

My mom normally suggests to me to go downstairs and grab a burger, as I live right above a Five Guys that makes it very convenient. Right now, I would if I could. All of my classmates are saying how much their DOT project is impacting their lives, however, I feel that removing beef from my diet is effecting me much more than taking shorter showers would have. While it may seem as though I am unique in my consumption of burgers, I am quite average compared to most Americans.

In a normal week I eat a burger every Friday and one or two more times in that same week. The average American eats 3 burgers a week and as a whole country we eat nearly 50 billion burgers a year. So by giving up what may seem to be an abnormal diet, I’m in fact becoming an abnormality.

Being this close to summer, it is not a surprise that one of the things I am looking forward to is summer. It is also not a surprise that living in 2017 I am looking forward to being able to grab my phone and relax for three months. However one of the things I am most excited about is just being able to bite into a cheeseburger two weeks from now.
