As we kick off 2019, we’re excited to announce our investment in digital signage firm Omma.
Founded in 2015, Omma delivers a device-agnostic, cloud-based, real-time and fully programmable software platform for customers to create digital signage scenarios for their campaigns.
Why digital signage? Advertisers have been spending more time and money on getting you to pay attention to what they have to sell while eager to use new technologies to interact with customers. They want to customize content, based on a user’s profile and preferences — and they want to be able to do it across multiple platforms and devices — on internet and mobile. However digital signage still lags. That is where Omma comes in.
Founders realized the significant transformation in the digital signage industry from PC powered networks into smart signages enabling software vendors. After analyzing other products and solutions, they realized change is even more significant than just providing solutions for different hardware.
Digital signage market is facing pressure to change from multiple fronts,
Pressure from Manufacturers: Manufacturers are introducing new devices with SoC (System on Chip) which has own O/S and connectivity to differentiate from others and capture market share. So instead of providing just a glass screen, each manufacturer is offering smart screens with connectivity tools.
Demands from customers: Customers wants to have today’s solutions at their devices, such as,
- interactive; not only displaying images/videos but also able to interact with customers,
- dynamic content; able to change content in real-time based on customers gender, time, etc.,
- multiple manufacturers’ devices; able to manage multiple models and manufacturers’ devices,
- multiple resources; able to connect to various resources and display updated data/content.
Above changes are pushing companies and their system integrators to search for the next generation of Digital Signage Management Solutions. Omma built a robust product with multi-device support, and rich feature-set customers are seeking. As a result, the platform is hosting the biggest single “smart” signage project in the world and biggest signage project in the region powering 11,000 devices.
