Gerard “Mike” Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is a former world heavyweight champion, considered one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Mike Tyson was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 30, 1966. His father abandoned the family when Mike was 2 years old. In his teenage years, Mike did a lot of petty crimes, and got in fights with people who made fun of his lisp. He was arrested 38 times by the time he was 13, and soon ended up in juvenile prison. There, his boxing abilities were noticed by a juvenile detention councilor who was also a former boxer. He introduced him to legendary boxing trainer Cus D’Amato, who became Mike’s manager, trainer and father figure. When Mike’s mother died when he was 16, D’Amato also became Mike’s legal guardian.
