Who are we?
23 Code Street is a coding school for all women and non-binary people. We use part of our profits to teach digital skills to women from marginalised communities in Mumbai. People come from different backgrounds and they experience the world through their unique lens. We, therefore, need these insights to be brought to the table and, to do that, we require a workforce that represents our society to create products and services that provide solutions for all of us.
So, we exist, to create better representation in the technology industry- whether that’s by creating the next generation of developers, or by upskilling those in other roles across industries, such as those in design, HR, marketing, finance, or in startups.
We believe that learning should be done in a safe environment- we teach without judgement.
We believe in creating a space that is inclusive- some of the ways we do that is by having a parents room and a faith space. We believe that Culture is Queen so we take our role seriously in setting an example for the industry- whether that’s by teaching accessibility or creating events that are fun, accessible, and not beer and pizza fuelled.
So… why are creating a podcast?
If technology is going to define our future, shouldn’t we all be a part of the conversation?
Our podcast exists to make technology more accessible to everyone. Technology should not be intimidating and confusing. We are all able to learn and harness it’s potential. Technology is for everyone. It does not require a specific gender, class, age bracket, colour, sexual orientation, physical ability…If you want to learn about machine learning or build your first website- you can and we are here to help (and have a bit of fun along the way!).
What’s your podcast series about?
Each episode your hosts, Anisah and Serena, will be joined by a specialist guest(s) who will be demystifying a technical concept.
We’re losing the fancy buzzwords, removing the confusing jargon, having some fun and making technology more accessible for everyone. We’ll be talking about everything from bitcoin to augmented reality; for our first episode, we’ll be explaining what coding is- obviously! Plus, we’ll be playing a few games which you can get involved in!

Host: Anisah is the founder and CEO of 23 Code Street. She is a Harry Potter fanatic, loves anything to do with the ocean, and spends all her money on books. She also knows way too much (read: doesn’t shut up) about periods.
Host: Serena is the marketing manager at 23 Code Street. She runs a mental health group for Punjabi womxn, loves reading, and once sat next to Chris Hemsworth whilst watching the Avengers (she doesn’t remember any of the film!).
Audio Producer: Sara has created, produced and hosted several successful podcasts for brands such as Amaliah and ran a podcast masterclass for Spotify! She’s never without her Hobonichi diary and loves searching for quirky finds in Notting Hill. She always has the best fashion/makeup advice (if you want your eyebrows on fleek, ask Sara).
