Hope
Weekly writing prompt.
It is a mustard seed,
of faith and otherness.
Fey warnings
imbued
with power and loss.
It is a skipped beat,
scratched record sound
nails raking
down a chalkboard.
It is angry tears and gasping
for air that doesn’t circulate
but keeps breaths
coming.
A glimmer of light
in the sink hole of life,
it is a warning.
It is accepting
and taking
and dreaming
and flying
and it is Icarus
falling too close to the sun
— lips cracked open, bleeding
paper cut ache,
gut-punch knowledge that you
are alive.
And living
is another milestone
to conquer.
