In the previous CEO email we told you that in January 2021 the new Payment Services Directive, PSD2, would take effect. 2gether, like any other community financial service that handles payments, is working to adapt to the requirements of the Directive.

As part of this process, we restricted last month the access to the historic transactionality to the last 90 days. This week we’ll add a new authentication factor that will be applied to e-commerce purchases and all app transactions.

During the upcoming weeks we’ll also add the possibility to check movements made prior to the last 90 days, introducing the new authentication factor.

For this reason, in order to continue using your app with these new measures you will only have to carry out the following steps:

  1. Make sure that the phone number you registered in the app corresponds to the mobile phone you operate with.
  2. Update the 2gether app from your app store to the latest version available.
  3. Enter the 2gether app and follow the steps
  4. Enter the code that you have received on your mobile phone by means of an SMS.
  5. Enter your phone number
  6. Create a secret code, this new code you will have to remember as you will have to use it in several operations in the app.

*If during this process you have any kind of problem or you get an “Authentication error” message, try to uninstall the app and reinstall it to try to solve any possible problem.

What is PSD2?

PSD2 is the new European Payment Services Directive that has been implemented with the purpose of increasing security when carrying out online transactions and protecting users against possible fraud.

The PSD2 involves asking the user for two or more strong authentication factors known exclusively to the same user to verify the user’s identity and, once verified, to carry out online operations.

Such factors considered for validation would be:

  • Something you have, your mobile phone, for example.
  • Something that only you know, your secret code, for example.
  • Something that is yours, your fingerprint, for example.

What is this new implementation?

Whenever you perform any online operation in the app, you will enter the double-checking flow and you will have to follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Enter a code that you will receive by SMS to your mobile.
  2. Enter the secret code that you have previously configured.
