Bose Headphones — What’s Missing?
While switching to a wireless design makes sense in many cases, there is still a need, an opportunity and, for many, a matter of preference to use wired headphones. This is especially true even more so now, with many switching to working remotely and participating in video meetings over the Internet , or making phone calls using desktop apps like Google Voice or OOMA Office Pro.
Bose has been a recognized leader in the noise cancelling headphone space for many years. Those who frequently travel can still see many happy Bose customers on airplanes.
However, to be able to use wired Bose headphones (such as Bose QuietComfort 25) for calls or video meetings on a computer (PC, Mac, Chromebook), one would have to get a USB-to-3.5mm jack adapter (e.g., KOOPAO-US USB to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter, 2-in-1 External USB Sound Card, 3.5mm Aux to USB to Audio Jack Sound Adapter Support CTIA OMTP Headphone TRRS Jack for PC Windows 10 PS4 Laptop Mac, 24Bit 96Khz).
In addition, operating Bose headphones in a noise-cancelling mode requires power (a AAA battery).
Instead of connecting an Inline Mic/Remote Cable with a 3mm TRRS jack to a USB adapter, wouldn’t it be great and more convenient to have a version of wired headphones with a built-in USB-C cable (or, even better, a combo cable with dual a USB-C connector and 3.5mm TRRS jack) so that one USB cable could be used for all three purposes — audio, mic and power?
So a preferred configuration to enjoy noise-cancelling Bose headphones on a computer as well as iOS and Android devices would be as follows:
- A cable with two connectors: USB-C and 3.55mm
- Internal chargeable battery (that can be charged through the USB-C cable)
- Backup AAA battery (that can be used when it’s not possible to re-charge the internal chargeable battery)
