2 min of Growth Hacking Tips 🚀

Every week, I’ll give you a few insights into one of the growth hacking tips of this list.

What does it mean “Process first, tactics second.” ?

The mistake you can make when you want to grow your business is to think about the tactics first. You can’t unlock your growth problems just with some hacks. You need a process.

« Tactics first is putting the cart before the horse. You need a process that will help you build a scalable, predictable, and repeatable growth machine. » — Brian Balfour

I realized the importance of this #1 growth hacking tips when I read the Brian Balfour’s article. Why shall we need a process? He gives 4 reasons.

  1. You need a process to generate new growth ideas, test them, learn from them and use those learnings to be more efficient.
  2. The rate of change is accelerating. You need a process to adapt your tactics.
  3. Your business is different from others. You need a process to uncover the unique tactics that work for your product, your audience and your business model.
  4. Explosion of growth doesn’t come overnight. You need a process that will help you build a scalable, predictable and repeatable growth machine.

My thoughts

If now you are convinced that tactics are not enough to boost your company’s growth, don’t think that with a process the magic will happen. You need something more: a strategy. With the process, you know how to do it. The strategy shows you why you do it. If you want to have more impact, you have to be focused. Define what you want to improve (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral or Revenue) and set your objectives and your key metrics.
