Being a new chef can be pretty daunting- if I was just getting started, these are the basics that I would invest in for getting started.

The basics you need to get started!

With a good chef’s knife, a cutting board, a skillet, a stockpot, a measuring cup, and a colander, you can make a variety of delicious pasta dishes and grilled meat dishes that will keep you busy as a new chef for a while. You can also make stews and curries or braise meat in the stock pot.

Next I would add the baking sheet. Roasting Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet will be one of the simplest recipes you will ever learn, and will make it so you always have an option for a quick vegetable side. Similarly, once you cook bacon in the oven on a baking sheet, you’ll never go back to the stovetop method.

Finally, you’ll hopefully be making lots of delicious food and you’ll need the snapware containers to save leftovers and share with friends!
