Europe accepts refugees every year: Ukrainians, Syrians, and Afghanistan people. International conflicts force people to quit their native countries and they have to travel around the world seeking a safe place. People as victims of war crimes have no other choice than to become refugees since most usual families don’t have saved money to start a new life in Europe. At the same time, Europe has numerous refugees, who also cause certain social-economic issues for the native society. Most often, governments of the accepting countries offer modular cities as a quick solution. At the same time, these modular cities become ghettos where people remain for years without socialization and full integration into society. This causes next levels of social issues and finally, can even lead to the increasing level of terrorism.

Vsimdim in the village

The current system of refugee care doesn’t work. Leaving people on their own with problems they faced after being forced to flee their homes is not a solution.

Ukraine has learned this lesson very well: people were not ready for the war at all, and most didn’t have money. Some families were living in modular houses the government organized for the victims of the 2014 year invasion. And families didn’t manage to get out of those modules: being stuck in “refugee” camps people were cut from normal society. Many of them faced war for the second time when the 2022 invasion started.

Adaptation Program

Vsimdim sees no solution in just giving houses out. Well, it’s better to say, this is a solution, but only temporary and not from a good perspective. Basically, it changes nothing. Instead, we know how painful, depressing and sad may losing a house be. That’s why we’ve created a program of adaptation where people are not left on their own with troubles. They receive complex help from a psychologist, social workers and HR, who will be:

  • helping people to cure their mental trauma left after the war actions;
  • looking for a job so people may guarantee their further comfortable life;
  • provide a cosy house with a perfect interior made for a family for half a year;
  • house is getting installed in villages and cities, so people may talk to others and socialize like in daily life.

Program VS Modular House

Some say: and what will happen to these people in half of the year, will they just be kicked on the street? Well, actually, that’s why this is a program. The main goal is to teach people how to get back to life, make sure they have found a workplace and dialled with all mental issues before leaving the program.

We know that there are different people and after facing tragic events and receiving help humans may stick to the “victim syndrome”, that’s why we don’t want to support this “victim” way of thinking but make a person completely mentally healthy and independent again.

While modular houses just close the issue for some time, we solve it. Curing the cause and offering an instrument to live happy life further.

Q&A

How people may apply to the program?

Well, anyone who wants to participate in the program may just fill in the form to participate. In this questionnaire family will fill in demographic and social data, to get into the program.

How do you choose people?

This is a live order. Families get to the program one by one and participate in the program depending on the time they filled out the questionnaire.

Will they have to pay something?

No. The program is fully charity-based. People never have to pay.

What will happen to them in half a year?

During half of the year, families will have to leave the house. However, we believe that half of a year of intense work with a social worker, psychologist, or HR will be pretty enough for people to fully recover and find worthy work.

Will the program be caring about these families for half of the year?

There are numerous families in Ukraine who currently require equal support and help. We would like to help as many families as possible, so once the program is finished families will proceed with their own lives and the next people will start getting help.

Where will they be living in these houses?

These houses will be standing in villages and cities. Ukrainian government approves the installation of the house and since it’s mobile and modular it may be installed in any village or city with electricity lines.

If the house good enough for winter and summer?

The house is made of high-quality materials and has a heating system with air conditioning as well as heating elements, so it will be warm to live there in the winter.

Help is important. However, it should be well-planned to be really effective. And we think that full support in the program is one of those highly-effective ways to support those who are in need. Learn more about the program on our website: https://vsimdim.org
