  1. Using Twitter to fight back — the right way: Many news organizations seem baffled about how to respond to Twitter attacks. But ProPublica shows how to do it right, in this exchange where it neatly — but brutally — takes down White House spokesman Sean Spicer. Explained by David Uberti for CJR.
  2. The mystery Twitter man who helped Trump win: One influential Twitter maestro has unleashed storms of 140-character mini-hurricanes, creating massive buzz that continually helps Trump. Yet the identity of this force is remains a mystery. Joseph Bernstein of Buzzfeed pulls back the curtain on this character — a little. A good read.
  3. Watch out, advertisers. Social media activists on the prowl: Advertisers are finding themselves caught in cultural crossfires and attacked by people who use fast-moving social media storms to make their displeasure know. It’s a tactic that works, and quickly. See how fast advertisers pulled spots from the Fox show of serial sexual harasser Bill O’Reilly. Interesting read by Michael M. Grynbaum and Sapna Maheshwari of the NYT.
