On the Road Joe

Sometimes you lack the time to search out a killer coffee connection. Or, you’re in the middle of some state; no cell service, no baristas, absolutely no pour-overs (gasp!). What’s a guy to do at 6 a.m.? Fortunately for me, my wife thinks of (almost) everything.

She found these kinda cool pour-over bags at Trader Joe’s. Simply open, fill with hot water (jump down to the free breakfast found at most motels and grab a couple cups), let sit, then pour out. Result? Better then the average cup from the coffee urn at any given Best Western. Up to artisanal standards? No, but easy, and decent.

Much, much better were the bottles of Stumptown cold brew found at various Whole Foods stores. Smooth, complex and super easy, I will consider buying a case of this stuff for our next trip. Great over ice from the cooler while driving on a hot day, or add a dash of hot water and microwave for a piping hot on-the-go Joe for that first cup of the day. Thanks Stumptown; you got us covered!
