S.F. Old School

I asked our San Francisco hosts about the best coffee in their Dolores Park / Noe Valley neighborhood. There were plenty of places but they thought I’d appreciate a tried and true local hero — Philz Coffee.

True to SF form, it had a hippie/70s vibe with artwork to match. After standing in line for a few moments, I was sent to one of the five baristas working that morning. The coffee choices had strange names and descriptions. I picked one, and waited about five minutes.

I was called back to the counter, and handed two cups of steaming, pour-over specially blended coffee. The result? Excellent, and potent! If you’re not in a hurry, this place is worth a stop.
