Our next stop was Eugene, Oregon; home of track and field, Prefontaine, and the U of O (the O’s were branded all over town). After a later than usual night dining at an amazing French bistro in the market area of town, I yearned for a well-made cortado has we headed out.

A quick Google search took us to Tailored Coffee Roasters. Their espresso blend was nutty, full, with berry notes. The barista explained that their Ethiopian roast was light enough to bring out a lot of complexity once pressed through the espresso groups. My resultant cortado was just as hoped for — perfectly made and flavorful. My wife’s iced coffee, using a Japanese drip method, was poured through ice. One of the best she has had.
