Daylight has a powerful effect on the body’s internal clock with regular doses of natural light helping to boost our mood and stay more alert during the day. Exposure to outdoor light in the morning helps to set our body clock for a more restful night’s sleep.

Fresh air is also known to have an almost tranquilising effect on the body and relaxes the mind thus further aiding the sleep preparation process. Sleeping with your window open can also be beneficial as it ensures there is moving, clean air coming into your bedroom while you sleep.

This week, try giving an outdoor activity a go, whether it is taking a lunchtime stroll or swapping your treadmill for the road and see how your sleep improves.
