When I picked up “Blessed Are The Weird”, I could tell by the cover that this would not be just any old book. I gravitate towards inspirational books at times, but this one sits on it’s own domain. Instead of a hand holding, pat on the back sort of book, this one is a kick in the pants, set the house on fire kind of book.

Blessed Are The Weird — A Manifesto For Creatives by Jacob Nordby

This book is something of a call to arms for the creatives of the world. The call is to listen to the voices in our hearts and heads, to create the art and “things” we are suppose to create. It’s a call to be “weird”, in the sense that we won’t fit into the mold of success and acclaim that the world has told us to aspire towards.

If you are looking for soft inspiration and a how to guide, this is not a book for you. If you appreciate a gut punch and more of a tough love mentality, this book will be just what the doctor ordered for you.

Don’t pick this one up for a light, casual read. Pick this one up if you are ready to start the marathon of living out your creative calling in a world bent on keeping your art locked inside.

“Blessed Are The Weird: A Manifesto for Creatives” is not a book for the faint of heart. What it IS, is a book for the “poets, misfits, writers, mystics, heretics, painters and troubadours”. If you count yourself as one of these, or aspire to live a life inspired by the desire to create, then this book is for you.
