Had it been easy
To take our grains of sand
And build our mountain
We would all be sitting cross-legged
Eyes glazed to the chilled summit winds
On our pointed peaks staring
Into the infinity above

Yet here we are
Walking endless plains
Our grains beneath our feet
Spreading out from sea to sea
Wind carrying specks in intricate dances
Our eyes pierced by staring
Into the infinite horizons

We each wonder
If we should be safer
In this moment than the last
As we approach
The ends of endlessness

We each wonder
If we should risk everything
As if this moment
Was our first time staring
Into the dawn skies
