Recipe #135 Hot Milk Cake

What happens when you shop at Wal-Mart

I agreed to purchase my roommate’s milk for however long I will be occupying the Farmhouse attic. It started as somewhat of a joke, but is slowly coming to fruition. I’ve bought the local Homestead Creamery milk in glass jugs, milk from Trader Joe’s, even some from Wal-Mart (insert shame here). It was this last Wal-Mart purchase that was impending expiration because Justin had little interest in actually consuming it. Part of this year of milk is to make up, in a very small way, some of the difference he pays in utilities. Consequently, I chose this recipe on Taste of Home and as I also needed to find the right white cake recipe to finally finish a vanilla cake for Aaron.

This recipe turned out to be a fantastic base for his long overdue cake. However, this particular cake was shared with Justin and Kristy at the Corner. It is by no means good for you, but is simple, light and not at all too sweet. I find that it is best enjoyed with a little scoop of ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Takeaways: serve with butter cream frosting.

Who craved the cake? Me, Justin, Kristy and whoever else tried some. I’m not entirely sure.
