Recipe #142 Vanilla Butter Cream Frosting

Finally making good on a promise

This cake was two months late, but with kids better late than never. Aaron requested an ice cream cake for his birthday. I attempted and failed valiantly. I headed to the nearest grocery store instead, picked up some strawberry ice cream cake, replacing the melting cake in my kitchen trash. To make up for this foible, I decided to bake a white cake from recipes past and try out a simple frosting.

This vanilla butter cream recipe has a few ingredients, but takes quite awhile when using a whisk and rubber spatula. The kitchen aid or hand mixer remain on the list of helpful gadgets that we ought to own.

I did not change a thing. I used half-and-half because I was not in the mood to fetch whipping cream from the nearest gas station/convenience store. Being twenty minutes from the nearest grocery store has melded those two things into one. The mini-mart is the proper name bestowed upon these strange country establishments that seem to attract an array of people. Anyway, whipping cream adventure avoided, recipe successful, kids happy. Those three things are really all that matter.

Takeaways: learn how to properly put together an ice cream cake.

Who basked in the butter cream? Myself, Aaron and Andrea
