Gitcoin Global Communities Hackathon

3Box was a sponsor of the Gitcoin Global Communities Hackathon, which concluded on the December 17th, just before the holiday break. The event was a huge success and we would like to acknowledge Gitcoin as well as all the participants for your hard work.

We’re very excited to announce the three winners of the 3Box bounties.

3Box Bounties

We posted three bounties for the event:

The Winners

Chatbox Bounty ❤️

Our Chatbox Bounty aimed to bring “likes” to messages in the Chatbox plugin. This feature makes our Chatbox component more engaging and sociable. The winner of this prize is Gitcoin user, Tiramisu 🎉. We are currently working to merge this improvement, so you can use it in your dapp!

Comments Bounty 💬

Our Comments Bounty included improvements to the Comments plugin, such as adding replies, upvotes and emoji reactions to comments. These features turn the Comments plugin into a more sociable, web2-like user experience. We received two working submissions, and decided to award Think in Universe as the winner. His submission allowed a user to add multiple different emoji reactions to the same comment.

Gitcoin Integration Bounty 🖥

The Gitcoin Integration Bounty sought to allow Gitcoin users to backup their Gitcoin profile and history to their 3Box. This gives users greater control of their Gitcoin data and the option to take this information to other platforms. We had two strong submissions for this this bounty, but in the end decided to go with Zoek1 as the winner. This submission provided good documentation, a seamless user experience, and allowed for granular control of user’s data. We hope that Gitcoin likes this submission just as much as we do, and that they will integrate it soon!

Check out a video of the integration here.

Thank you!

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the hackathon, and we look forward to collaborating more with the Gitcoin community in future. Have a great New Year, and see you in 2020!
