3 Wonderful Gifts from God
What a fun time of the year this is. People all over the world are singing about Jesus. I believe that there are more new songs are written and sang about our Lord during this time than any other. One of my all time favorites is “Mary Did You Know” written and sung by Mark Lowry.
In this blog we will be covering 3 gifts that God has given to each of us. God has also given us the choice of how you use them. IF you choose to use these gifts in the correct manner they become a blessing to you and to those around you.
However, IF you choose to use them in a selfish manner they will not longer be a blessing to you, they become painful to you and to others.
Let’s look at the first one; Anger — yes, that is correct anger. You may ask how can that be a gift. I am so glad that you did.
Ephesians 4:26–27 When angry, do not sin; do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down. 27Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]. Amplified Bible
So just from this one scripture we can see that we are not to become angry with the person but with the sin. If we become angry with the person, we say or do things toward them then we have made the wrong choice. We have just opened the door to the devil into our own lives.
However, if we choose to turn and walk away from being angry until we can actually talk to the person then healing starts.
Today people choose to become angry for days about things that really makes no difference in their live, like sports….MY team did not win…really it is called a game. It is suppose to be for fun. Being angry and sinning is because I did not get my way or what I wanted. In other words selfish and hurting others.
However, there is so much to be said about how people respond with anger. Anger should be if someone is attempting to hurt you or your family, there is a righteous anger. God gave us this gift to use correctly. When this happens He has given ways to deal with in scripture.
Matthew 15–17
15 “If your brother sins[d], go and show him his fault in private; if he listens and pays attention to you, you have won back your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take along with you one or two others, so that every word may be confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses. 17 If he pays no attention to them [refusing to listen and obey], tell it to the [e]church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile (unbeliever) and a tax collector. Amplified Bible
I want to tell you some of the things that can happen to most that choose to use this gift incorrectly because they hold on to things and it boils on the inside. Here is some of what can take place in your life.
Can be past to the next generation
High blood pressure
Aneurysms
Strokes
Hemorrhoids
Varicose veins
Cholesterol
Other things can happen as well….
The body is exploding on the inside….

WOW how do you like some of the things that come along with being angry and sinning? So much better to handle being angry the way God wants to. Take care of those offense/anger before the sun goes down. Most do not remember what they became angry about weeks later but the process has begun on the inside and It will effect your health and your family!
Now let’s talk about the second gift, the gift of laughter. When we were children we laughed approximately 400 times a day and then when we grew up we laugh maybe 4 times a day. We now take everything so serious on an ongoing daily bases. All of the what if’s…
Now let’s see what it says in Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
However, when this was translated is speaks of medicine, the correct word that should have been use is cure.
If should read like this “A MERRY HEART does good like a CURE! but a broken spirit dries the bones.:
If your spirit is dried up then it effects your bones and they begin to dry up. This is your immune system and if it drys up then you become sick.
BUT there is good news with the gift of laughter. Let’s take a look at what they are;
“laughter, happiness, and joy are perfect antidotes for stress.” Colbert added, “A noted doctor once said that the diaphragm, thorax, abdomen, heart, lungs — and even the liver — are given a massage during a hearty laugh.”
It is a form of breathing that massages your internal organs and
Relaxes muscles
Increased Blood Flow
There is a strong connection between laughter and cardiovascular health
It will also jump start your T-Cells which is you immune system…
I know of some that have laughed themselves well! Look for ways to laugh more! It could be just what the doctor ordered.
Here is a third gift that we have been given. A recent study that was done on serving others and showed great benefits for our health. Sunday we attended a church here in Ohio called River Tree, and the message was on servicing.
Here is what your gift of serving others can do for you;
It can help in lowing blood pressure
Helps someone to deal with chronic pain
Helps one to live longer
Increases happiness
Helps one to cope better with stress
Helps one have higher self-esteem, purpose, and/or direction in life.
What 3 awesome gifts we have been given as we walk our journey called life. Just like any other gift we make a choice to take it and use it properly or to just not care, destroy and make it destructive.
Remember if you make a choice to use your gift in a the manner than God intended for you to do then these 3 gifts will bring you joy.
However, there are a few things that can take away your joy You may want to take a good look at them to you see if anything on this list might pertain to you and if so then just get rid of it.
Wrong priorities
Taking ourselves too seriously
Brooding over past hurts
Incurring heavy debt
Vain imaginations and fears
Wrong companions (friends/company)
Lack of provision
Neglecting tithes and offerings
Believing a lie
Guilt
Do it God’s way and you will never be sorry that you made the choice to do things HIS way and not your own. God gives up gifts so that we can walk the path that He has set before us to reach the high calling.
Use your 3 gifts wisely and you will be glad you did.
Blessings,
Patsy Riggs
