3rd side to ‘we were on a break’ thing from Friends!

The reason I decided to write about this is the long discussion that I had with 3 of the crazy friend’s fans whom I met in 4 hour long car ride while travelling to Madrid. We started to discuss whose fault was it actually and while the boys took Ross’s side and claimed it was Rachel’s fault, the girls had pretty fair points as well.

Lets see who’s fault was it actually!

I believe it was all Gunther’s fault.

Why?

We have observed Ross throughout the series, very well to know that he likes relationships and he values people in his life. In his own words, he’s not Joey. He doesn’t fool around.

A lot of people know this already that there is a code between men which is ‘bro code’ and Gunther broke it. We men are supposed to look out for each other. Yeah! he likes Rachel but he should have grown a pair and acted on it. Instead he tried to break them apart which only wrecked what Ross and rachel had but didnt do any good to Gunther either.

He was shocked himself!

I’d also add that Ross acknowledges that what he did was wrong, maybe not technically but certainly emotionally — by trying to keep that info from her, and spending all night convincing her not to be mad, and only pulling the “I thought we were broken up” line when he saw that she’d be hurt for a long, long time.

It all actually started when Mark came into picture. The guy who has a crush on Rachel, who helped her get the job, who knew Rachel was in a serious relationship and still opted to hit on her instead of just being her friend.

Rachel’s fans may disagree but I believe Rachel was “emotionally” cheating on Ross with Mark.

But kepping this all aside, it was very insensible of Ross to cheat on Rachel whom he loved for years before getting together with her. So, him telling ‘we were on a break’ doesnt justify his sleeping with other woman just hours after breaking up with Rachel.

Summary……..

I think both Ross and Rachel has done their share of mistakes but more importantly they overcame all those and ended up together at the end which was the only sensible thing to do and gave all the fans a happy ending.
