3YOURMIND 2014–2018 — IV Episodes: A Brand and a New Hope
It’s been four years since 3YOURMIND first entered the 3D Printing universe. Today, we begin the countdown to our fifth anniversary. Well done guys… only 347 days to go!
To celebrate this milestone, we’d like to walk you through the main activities that have defined us as a company and what helped us get to where we are now.
How to build an awesome team and a successful business in four years
Episode I, 2014
Becoming a company began with the completion of a dizzying amount of paperwork. Though not everything was paper and ink — our first sale in late 2014 gave us our final stamp of approval, and heralded the arrival of a new player in town! The dream was finally beginning to take shape.
Then things really exploded — the company doubled in size overnight (well, we added two employees). There was now just the two founders (Stephan and Aleks) working aside two amazing, supportive people helping us get the company off the ground. 3YOURMIND is incredibly thankful for their support… we wouldn’t have been able to get out of the starting block without them.
Episode II, 2015
2015 was a hugely successful year (the first of many!). Our first seed investment round was secured, empowering us to start building the team that brought us where we are today. It was also thanks to this investment that we were able to open an office in Wroclaw, Poland — our first outside Berlin.
It was also the year that our VP Engineer Felix Bauer joined the Berlin team. Felix recalls: “I really had the dream of building a digital 3D printing platform after finishing my studies, that’s why I joined 3YOURMIND! I remember applying for a position as an intern after seeing an ad on my university’s blackboard.”
We were (and are) always on the lookout for creative minds, motivated people with a good sense of humor who are able to help our projects and ideas evolve… and in the process transform both ourselves and our customers. Felix again:
“Things were totally different when I joined from what they are now. We had a very small office at the TU Berlin, and our Slogan was ‘3D Printing for the Industry and Architecture’. The idea of the workflow platform that we have today had not even been born by then yet. Back then we only developed plugins for CAD software. The platform as it is known today got born later.”
“After all these years and becoming the leader for a constantly growing group of developers, I can only say that I had never lost my motivation nor focus. During these 4 years in this company I’ve seen many people coming and going, but mostly coming — that’s amazing, isn’t it? Even if our team is much bigger now, the spirit that drives us is still the same one from 4 years ago. It is really exciting to see it grow.”
In 2016 the company achieved one of our biggest milestones to date, becoming recognised as one of the top innovative companies in Germany (more on that later). Even then, new opportunities and exciting growth prospects were beginning to appear. We were just beginning to take off…
