It’s Monday 8:10 PM and I’m finalising our daily batch of highly-targeted cold emails
We are a lead generation company, so generating leads is our bread and butter. If I could give you one quick tip to make your leadgen as effective as possible; focus each campaign on ONE specific target group. This is also very important in order to make quick learnings about different target groups. We use roughly 30–40 different templates and each one of them can be easily adapted with relevant placeholders for the particular target group (such as relevant clients, mutual connections on LinkedIn, the recipient’s title/position, and much more).
You can find the exact template I used above, it’s actually one of our worst performing ones. I used just two placeholders: first name and 2 relevant clients from the same field. In this particular case, we were targeting directors at marketing agencies in USA with 11–50 employees.
It’s 8:12 PM and I am sending out the campaign to 500 most promising leads
Four minutes later I received the first reply, asking for a quote for ~ 4,000 C-level leads at HR companies.
I really wanted to close this deal quickly, so I offered a slight discount and a swift turnaround.
Then, exactly 10 minutes after I sent out the campaign..
At the end of the day, the size of the deal doesn’t matter that much. Many of our clients are closing much bigger deals (5x, 10x,..). The point I wanted to make is that it’s possible to close good deals very quickly just through email — if you spend time and/or resources on high-quality lead generation, and if you keep your outreach as brief, relevant, and straight-to-the-point as possible.
