The Re-Do Process with the help of Ra-Do
Here are some of the transformations we did over the past few weeks with the cockpit taking leading role and taking the Oscar in this movie ^_^
All of these things were made with the magical hands of our upholsterer Rado.
This one turned out to be a lot more challenging than we thought. The state we got the camper was unusable for longer drives because of the noise coming from the engine through the dashboard. We had to yell to hear ourselves. The other issue was that there was no thermal insulation either which meant that we would be very cold in winter and very hot during the summer. All the credit here goes to the upholsterer Rado. He came up with a solution comprised of /from bottom to top/:
- Layer of sound and thermal insulation;
- Layer of plywood;
- Layer of fire resistant foam with sound insulation properties;
- Layer of air;
- Another foam layer;
- Another plywood layer
- Another thin foam on top of the plywood.
- Car leather for the finish.
The state in which we got the cockpit floor was with a linoleum coat. Having grown in communist Bulgaria, you have to know that there are a few things that whenever you see them you get a reaction that can be described as a mix of a panic attack and nausea. Linoleum does that to us. Anyway, we threw it away and everything underneath till we reached the metal.
First thing we did then was removing the rusty bits and spraying it with a coat of underbody protection.
Then the upholsterer Rado, added a layer of denim Insulation (not shown here) and then the car carpet.
