Fathom Detective Agency
Case 02: Vanished in Vancouver (interactive detective game)
Can you solve the mystery before it’s too late?
This is the second case in the Fathom Detective Agency series. Each case stands alone, so you can do them in any order you like. You can find the first case here.
Welcome back, gumshoe. I was proud of your detective work on the last case. But don’t get cocky. Reputations are built one case at a time.
I’ve got the classic good news and bad news for you. The good news: we’ve got a fresh case and it pays well. The bad news: it’s a little more serious than a stolen yacht.
A ten-year-old girl was kidnapped in the middle of the night in Vancouver. The client reached out to us directly first thing this morning. With cases like these, you’ll have to work quickly. The trail can run cold before you know it.
Our client expects you to find his daughter. Alive. Her name is Julie.
You’re already booked on a flight to Vancouver. Good luck.

The Case
You arrive in Vancouver on a rainy afternoon.
You only have 20 hours to complete your mission.
- Top Priority: Find the city where Julie is being held
- Secondary Priority: Identify the kidnapper
Every action you take costs time. Keep track of how much time you’ve spent if you hope to finish before the 20 hour deadline.
Some actions are available to you right away. Some you will unlock as you proceed with your investigation. You won’t have enough time to chase down every lead, so choose wisely. You can perform actions in any order, as long as they are available to you.
Feel free to use any resources at your disposal, including Google, Wikipedia, etc. When you’re ready or your 20 hours are up, scroll to the bottom and check to see if you’ve correctly solved the case. Any remaining time is your score.
The Client
You ring the bell at the house, nestled in the British Columbia woods. A man with heavy eyes opens the door. He thanks you for coming so quickly and starts…
