Do you spend hours in HipChat every day? Sure you do! Well, thanks to the new HipChat Connect API (in beta) you can add some very handy add-ons to your workflow and save tons of time by getting stuff done right in HipChat.
We put together a list of 10 add-ons that will make you and your team less distracted and more productive. Check them out!
1. Standup
The Standup bot, developed by Atlassian Labs, let’s you run your daily standup right inside HipChat. Just type /standup followed by your update and hit enter. What’s even better, if you type /standup you get a report from all your team mates in one place. This is great for agile & remote teams.
2. Appear.in
With Appear.in for HipChat you can start a voice call or share your screen with a team mate with one simple command. This is collaboration on steroids!
3. Meekan
Figuring out a time to meet with your team can give you a major headache. Even worse if your team is in different timezones. Well, fear no more Meekan has you covered. All you have to do is ask Meekan in plain English to find a time i.e. “Meekan, we need to meet tomorrow for a quick call”. The add-on than figures out the best options and all you have to do is pick the best one. Done. Done. And Done.
4. Convergely
Convergely is a swiss army knife for HipChat. They’ve packed three very useful features into one add-on. 1. Schedule messages for later — let’s say you need to send a recurring message, like a reminder for people to post their daily standup. 2. Poll your team — need to pick a place for lunch? Create a quick poll for your team. 3. Assign tasks for your team members — stop the talk and start the work.
5. Cloudo
Our very own add-on, Cloudo lets you find and share your stuff across all the apps you use right inside HipChat. Files in Dropbox, attachments in Gmail, tasks in Trello — you name it. Let’s say you need to find & share last year’s budget spreadsheet with the rest of your team. No problem — it’s just one search away. Cloudo also gives you a handy overview of your tasks (from Asana, Trello and Todoist) and events (from Google Calendar) right in the sidebar.
6. Uber
You and your colleague are heading out to a meeting on the other side of town. Why not call an Uber right inside HipChat! Plus your team mates can join the ride and carpool with you.
7. Smooch
Smooch is customer support for the chat era. Customer messages from your website or app are delivered straight to HipChat. You can than collaborate with your team to resolve the issue and reply right from HipChat. No need to get familiar with a new interface.
8. Slash TZ
Need to find out what time it is in NYC? Stop googling time conversion websites and do it right in HipChat with Slash TZ.
9. TL;DR
Who’s got time to read long articles and messages these days? With TL;DR you get a summary of a long text right in HipChat. It uses an open-source library that extracts the key sentences in each paragraph. Pretty neat!
10. HipGif
What’s that? Gifs don’t make you productive? Maybe, but at least save time searching and sharing them with HipGif!
