8 Tips How to Get a Job With No Experience
It is the usual question that pops up when you are about to leave University or even before. You want to land your first job, but the employer asks for experience — which you don’t have yet. Well, you are not alone and here are 8 great steps that can help you still get the job you want.
1 . Believe you can
“Believe you can and you’re half way there.” Theodore Roosevelt
Always believe in yourself that you can achieve anything in your career. Even if you haven’t studied the field you really want to get into — nothing is impossible. Self-Confidence and trust in yourself is key on your whole career journey.
2 . Do Projects
Do & build cool things outside your time at University or College. Keep learning and show your passion. These are things you can talk about in interviews and also put in your CV. That’s what companies these days are interested in.

3. Show Passion
“When hiring, I look for passion. That’s the only thing that can’t be taught.” Jack Dorsey
Companies want to hire people who have great motivation and are also willing to work hard and learn. Compensate your lack of experience with a huge amount of passion. Your “Why” should be powerful and you should have a “Story” to tell. Don’t do it for the money, do it for the fun, the learning curve, your passion, your dream. Money will always follow your passion.
4. Networking
Some people say: “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know.”
Networking is a powerful method in finding a job. Ask people in your network out for a coffee and get their advice and help. People like giving back and you just have to ask. Ask for introductions or recommendations. Always be nice and humble. And pay for the coffee, it is a good investment.
Try to find the right people you from who you want to learn. And if people don’t have the time to meet— ask for a 15 min Skype. Prepare, ask questions, learn & impress. Find your contacts on Squelo or other Professional Networks. Twitter is also great place to follow and keep up to date with people you want to meet.

5. Work for free
If companies are hesitant, maybe offer to work for free. That shows your motivation and passion to learn. This also gets your foot in the door. Don’t work for free all the time, but an unpaid internship for 2–4 weeks doesn’t harm.
6. Know your value
Everyone started once with no job experience. You still have a lot to offer. Curiosity, Commitment and a lot of great soft skills you might not know about. Embrace them. Get creative and develop a story why you want to work in a certain position or for a certain company.
7. Don’t waste time
We all know time is precious, yours and the hiring managers’. So make sure you apply to roles, which actually suit you and you like. Don’t just apply for the sake of applying. Apply because you know you have the skills and strength to excel in that role. Put yourself in the hiring managers shoes. What would make him excited about you? What should he know about you?
8. Persistence
“Never, Never, Never give up”. Winston Churchill
There are many great success stories out there and they all have 1 thing in common: Persistence. With the right mindset you can achieve anything in life. Those who have will to do something– will find ways. Those who don’t — will find excuses. Finding the right job that fulfills you might take time.
