Hey, the new Power Ranger reboot looks great!

An obligatory post by ’90-something Millennial in regards to one of the most beloved franchise from the decade. The title is half a deliberate ~sarcasm~, half hoping that this Hollywood rendition will ~actually~ be great, given the amount of nostalgia and long list of Hollywood adaptation fuck ups.

Things That Makes Me Roll My Eyes

The new ranger suits, courtesy of Iron Man

1. ~DARK AND GRITTY~ atmosphere, because heavens knows that ’90s kids grow up to be salty, despicable Millennials.
2. BOOB PLATES for the ladies, because Lord knows dem boobs needs to be protected at all cost, just like dem defined 8-packs for the guys (but ofc not apparent bulging for the guys’ crotch, this gotta be staying in the PG-13 realms!).
3. Also, everybody knows ladies gotta go to combat in HEELS.

Are we sure that Elizabeth Banks didn’t get into the wrong set?

1. Where’s my charming old lady with maniac laugh? Did lady villains stop aging at mid-20 somethings in Hollywood? Did Rita Repulsa finally got some fashion and personal style advice from one of her minions, so that she ditched her comfy ragged dress for this skin tight suit?
   (Disclaimer: I know Elizabeth Banks is way past 20, but it seems like Hollywood has something against wrinkles and generally anything that looks like an old lady appearance)
2. Are we sure that she’s the new Rita Repulsa, not a Poison Ivy for one of the new DC movie?

Coolest kid in the town.

1. Apparently since Aeropostale filed for bankruptcy, the only available clothing for teens in Angel Groove, CA. only comes in neutral colors like jeans, white, maroon, black, and tan. Maybe a little bit of orange.

Things That Gives Me Hope

Finally, some diverse crew!

1. DIVERSE CREW! (Although I gotta squint and IMDB-ed in order to know this one).
2. AFRICAN AMERICAN ACTOR NOT GETTING CASTED AS THE BLACK RANGER AND ASIAN ACTOR NOT GETTING CASTED AS THE YELLOW RANGER. Give the team a star for that.

I guess we all just have to wait till March 24, 2017 in order to witness a history to be made, whether it’s gonna be good or bad.
