So I am starting to interview for career starting positions and I am coming across some interesting questions and I am more than willing to take feedback on my answers and how I can improve and be more dynamic.

So please, assist.

1.
Completing a client project while a team member was dealing with a sick family member. This required our team to be understanding, supportive and take up the workload of our team member and making sure they were filled in on the progress of our project. Through emails, instant messages, Trello and phone calls we were able to effectively communicate responsibilities and at the same relieve some of the work from our team member going through a rough time.

2. Take me through an example of a work situation where you’ve had to go from one program to another, that you’ve had to support the concept right through to execution.

One program to another? As in application? Or agenda?
Either way. While working with prototypes, different applications have their strong and weak points. Using Axure to construct and Marvel to prototype a personal project for a realistic presentation was my intent. Preparing for the presentation, I found out that it would be predominantly MAC based audience. To ensure my concept was clear and delivered without confusion as well as make it possible for the clients to continue and build upon the prototype, it would be best to use Sketch and Principal, tools they would be more familiar working with. Not losing stride, I used a combination of screenshots and typography to mock up the prototype to IOS standards and deliver a relatable prototype to a targeted audience with a change of programs and intended to the audience.

3. What influences and trends have you noticed in the industry? Which one of those ideas is most engaging for you?

Trends are happening left and right in the technology industry, the ones I take notice to most are those of wearable technologies, personalization of experiences and virtual reality (augmented and mixed realities included). I am most engaged with the reality technologies the potential for possibilities are unmapped and exciting. They are creating new markets for growth and encompass all aspects of previous technologies and ways to enhance them. Coming from a gaming background, seeing this renaissance approaching in Virtual reality has been something I have studied and hoped for and will definitely contribute to.

4. What do you feel about style guides?

I feel they are valuable tools of reference to build a company brand, image, and message continuously across multiple mediums effectively. I feel as if I like them. They promote continuity.

5. Tell me about a time you’ve had to execute something where you haven’t had much guidance.

I would say life. There is not much guidance specific to your journey there and yet we execute every day and move forward.
In a work environment, I would say being tasked with redesigning a restaurant kitchen for effectiveness and usability would be the best example and that was the brief.
Not coming a from a culinary background, I was required to research different kitchen designs, restaurant layouts and interview with different culinary professionals to create my own guidance for the most effective design. Seeing a dinner service rush before my design and how it could be improved and learning what the needs were being presented. From those observations, I was able to design a kitchen layout that optimized the location of all the chef tools needed to increase usability and create a seamless process.

6. Tell me about an idea you’ve executed a project after hours because you were so excited about pushing it out.

It would have to be an app redesign for the Atlanta Beltline. I love what the Atlanta Beltline is doing for the city and transportation as well connecting the communities that it is passing through. Many Atl-iens use it every day for commute and exercise and about 90% of them have no idea that there was even an app that went along with the Beltline. So to help increase engagement in the Atlanta beltline project, activities, as well the opportunities that were available for all the users, I worked around the clock to make sure I was delivering an amazing product, experience and was based on the data of user needs. This project is still in development and I enjoy still.
