Every entrepreneur activity involves teamwork, and it’s essential to learn how to work together to accomplish the goals of your company. But, unfortunately, many teams fail to work together effectively, which leads to negative consequences. As a team who has worked on copywriting for quite a while, we decided to mark out and cover the Top 5 mistakes of working in a team. What are the main mistakes of the team working process? How to avoid or resolve them? Let’s have a look

Time is Money

The first and one of the most crucial mistakes is the inability to organize the team’s time. Inefficient time management leads to disorder, incomplete tasks and general decrease of the teams operating. First of all, we need to mark out the tasks that a may be completed individually and tasks that require the whole team. It’s obvious that during the brainstorming activity, the whole team must be present. While other activities, such as writing an article, or creating an application design may be done individually. Furthermore, team leaders tend to give certain minor tasks, literally to everyone, which is actually unacceptable, even if your team is quite small. Again this leads to mess and confusion of the team members. Discipline and keeping up with the agenda must remain strict. Everything depends on the character of the task, if the teamwork is in fact necessary, or there are tasks with greater priority.

The Role of a Leader

The second problem is the lack of the leader’s authority. Teamwork is impossible without efficient leadership. In fact, leadership is a vast topic that includes many peculiarities. The only fundamental truth is that the team leader must be respected; he must inspire and motivate his workers. Motivation is truly significant when it comes to teamwork, and it won’t be achieved without effective leadership. The leader must understand the high value of the compromise with his teammates, and with whom the compromise is significant.

Needless employees

The leader has been mentioned; now let us mention the members. One of the biggest problems is leaving someone in your team because “he’s a good guy”, even though he is not capable of doing the job. This is a complex issue, but to be honest, if the person is not willing to learn and work hard enough he must not be a part of the team. His lack of knowledge and skills will have a direct impact on the whole team. Irresponsibility, countless excuses and promises to get better next time is inappropriate. What matters indeed is the quality of the work.

Ignoring prospective workers

Alas, working quality of certain team members is mistreated on regular basis. Someone may have a creative approach and be much more prone to one branch, while he is forced to be doing something completely different. He may be the most disciplined and hard working person, but if he doesn’t like what he is doing, it’s no good. Situations differ, and so do solutions. One is to motivate the worker, uplift his spirit and desire to work in a different field, or simply give him other tasks, that he is excited about. So don’t load the worker with the work that he hates, try to mark out and use his potential in the field which he is interested in.

Absolute Control

The last and a quite irritating mistake is the organizational obsession. Long and detailed working reports, countless checks, monitoring, red tape may be beneficial, but not if exaggerated too much. This may be obligatory in a broad international enterprise, but not in a small team. In a small team it’s rather unnecessary and disturbing. Certainly, the activity and progress must be taken into account and controlled, but the idee fixe of total control should not be the main priority.

Remember that it requires an enormous amount of effort to assemble a well-operating, united team. On the first phases of teamwork, what matters is positive and friendly attitude towards each other. That is because most of operating and cooperation is done by the light of nature. The cardinal principle is the feeling of both personal and team responsibility. With them great teamwork is guaranteed.
