When one door closes, does the other door opens?

This is definitely not a pleasant news for the employed sector. This topic was not even in my mind to present here until I got newsfeed in my mobile when another company announced job cuts. Then I went on to probe such announcements and was stumbled to see the below:

This list is not exhaustive one but for the addition to the previous job cut announcements made in the past two months by few more companies

  • China has announced that there would be 400,000 steel-worker job cuts in response to the global slump and declining growth.
  • Further, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have also axed jobs as the big four grocery retailers battle to compete against competitors.
  • GE’s acquisition of Alstom’s power business could result in slashing around 6,500 jobs across Europe though it has also pledged to create around 1000 jobs in France.
  • Dubai’s construction and interior contractor Depa Ltd announced to cut jobs across the world as part of restricting process

Even though there are many add-ons in this list, I don’t want to doom up this article further on. Be it any reason, these job cuts may not take place overnight at one place and would be covered by few months/years to come. This is bound to have a rippling effect elsewhere in developing countries where these top notch companies are backed up by the shared service centres.

It is quite disturbing to comprehend the people’s mindset in those companies not knowing when they will be in that knock-off list.

  • Is 2016 the year of the next recession?
  • Is this giving some kind of indirect message to the job seekers out there who are depending on the company to pick for jobs?
  • Will this situation foresee an increasing trend in the startups and more entrepreneurs, freelancers rather than being tied up to one job or company?

Your (dream) job does not exist. You must create it.
