By now, almost everyone has come across a fancy headline like “Why I Quit My Job”. In most of those stories, the author is telling you that he had an amazing job, was getting paid a lot and should thank his lucky stars to be the one with a perfect job, whereafter you’ll often read why they needed a change. They didn’t feel it anymore.

I understand those people and it’s often a good read. Their arguments are valid, for sure.
What I don’t understand is that people mimick this important life-decision, without considering why they should do it. Job-hopping so to speak.

In this ever growing world, where everything (especially the Technology scene) is changing proportionally, it’s actually very simple to quit your job and go on to something else.
However, when you have the possibility at your job to do your thing, to bring up ideas, to make them work, to enjoy your day-to-day job, to have a future at the company and be part of the growth, don’t throw that away!

Don’t just choose for the most simple way out, but set goals and try to accomplish them. The reward of doing this is better than starting at a new company each year.

For the past 3 years I got a lot of new chances at iCapps, but only because I took initiative. If you want to have more possibilities at your company, try to take the lead in new born ideas. They can be simple in the beginning, but can be so powerful for you and the whole team!

So, if you don’t like your job, quit immediately!
If your boss is telling you minute per minute what to do, quit!
If you feel like you will be doing exactly the same job in 5 years, try to change your future. If your boss won’t let you try that, quit.

Don’t just quit because it sounds like a fancy story.

It’s a new year. Let’s set goals and try to accomplish them for your own and the company you work for.

Decide what your future will look like.

One of my goals is to write more. Hopefully you liked this article, I’d love to hear your opinion. You can tweet me!
