Agriculture supply-chain initiative is building a blockchain network

The trade modernization initiative of one of the agriculture leaders — Convantis — cooperates with ConsenSys to develop a blockchain-based network. Becoming the leading technical partner, ConsenSys joins a consortium of the biggest agriculture market players, such as Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Bunge, Cargill, COFCO, Glencore Agriculture and Louis Dreyfus.

This solution will be available for both big and small market players. Co

Convatis already has a similar experience in blockchain solutions development: they have launched Quorum — Ethereum enterprise blockchain-based solution that allows companies to create permissioned networks. However, this project will implement a series of CosenSys tools, such as Kaleido, MythX and PegaSys Orchestrate.

Convantis is a perfect tool for transferring the agriculture supply chain’s paperwork to distributed ledger technology. Thus, ships filled with grain and other commodities will be able to get out of port faster and do it on time, as all required data will be open for easy access to all interested parties. And faster shipment will be followed by lower product cost and final consumer price.

French startup to use blockchain in fighting against air pollution

The World Bank called air pollution the biggest environmental threat that is a cause of many diseases and early deaths. To develop an effective solution to mass air pollution, PlanetWatch is building a blockchain system to monitor air quality, where common people will be able to add their air quality data collected on personal air quality sensors.

Air pollution is traditionally monitored through large scientific instruments that are placed in a limited number of locations and lack an option to track and publish data in real-time. Claudio Parrinello, CEO of PlanetWatch, believes that this problem can be solved with the integration of blockchain-based network that will easily deliver real-time data that can be accessed by all involved parties.

All users that upload data on the platform will be rewarded with PLANET tokens. Collected data will be uploaded to Algorand — a new proof-of-stake blockchain network from Argoland Foundation.

Canada Invests $130, 000 in Blockchain Solution for Steel Supply Chain

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) published a procurement award that will fund an R&D project with approximately US$130,000. The main goal set by ISED is developing a blockchain-based blockchain proof-of-concept prototype that can track and share real-time data across the supply chain in the Canadian steel industry. Yearly, Canada produces about 10,000 metric tons of steel.

This project will be developed by Mavennet that will receive funding for the next six months, and this term can be prolonged to approximately two years. Mavennet CEO Patrick Mandic believes that the steel industry will get to the new stage with the implementation of blockchain technology to manage and transfer data and AI to analyze them.

The steel supply chain uses a lot of various data that has to be processed as fast as possible. With the ability to collect them in real-time and got in the way everyone can trust, the steel industry will open new markets, improve product transferring, lower transfer costs and much more.
