About the role

We’re looking for a Junior Product Designer to join our team. Creative design is critical to helping our users build relationships in ways software has never done before. This is an opportunity to reshape how humans interact with their relationships and to help define how machine learning recommendations can feel human and helpful to users.

The Junior Product Designer role will be responsible for defining our users’ interactions with our core software. They will do this by guiding the engineering team’s work through mock-ups and user research. Over time, the Junior Product Designer is expected to take on more user research responsibility, ultimately helping define the company’s design philosophy and product roadmap.

About you:

• Excited about the 4Degrees mission
• 2–4 years of professional design experience and/or a formal education in design
• Deep curiosity about the user, their decision making process, and their psychology
• Ability to communicate your work effectively in verbal and visual form, with the user’s interests in mind
• Portfolio of strong visual + interaction design work
• Comfort with experimentation — we’re building something no one else has
• Collaborative mindset — recognizing that great outcomes are accomplished by teams, not individuals
• Growth mindset — recognize that you’re near the beginning of your design journey and excited to rapidly develop your skills
• Skilled in using Photoshop, Invision, Figma, or other design tools to produce output at different levels of fidelity
