Trends of NFTs in Web3 social networks

NFT became a hot topic in October 2021 when an NFT by digital artist Mike Winkelmann, known as Beeple, sold at Christie’s for $69 million. “NFT allows you to buy and sell ownership of unique digital items and use the blockchain to track who owns them. NFT is seen by many, at least for now, as the future of digital art acquisition and trading.

Profile Picture (PFP) NFTs are gaining mainstream attention in this continuation of the scenario, and their rapid growth is linked to the existing infrastructure of Web2 social platforms. People are happy to set their favourite PFP NFTs as their profile pictures on mainstream social media, thus increasing their exposure on social networks. This is a new social culture where users showcase their preferences and style, or invest in vision by using PFP NFTs on their social network pages. It is a fusion of the uniqueness of NFT with the culture of social networking.

Unlike other complex Web3 technologies, the NFT market is a relatively crypto-friendly market. With proven technology across platforms, individual creators and teams can quickly and easily enter this huge emerging market. PFP NFTs like Bored Ape and Crypto Punk are becoming emblematic of the crypto community and the Web3 space as a whole.

Web3’s infrastructure

The Internet has evolved from the early days of just reading the Internet to Web2, where everyone can publish their ideas and communicate. A large number of social platforms have emerged with great success. The new concept of Web3 is currently not clearly defined and is open to everyone’s imagination.

NFT is currently an important encrypted segment that lends itself well to bridging the web, thanks to the social media properties of Web2.4EVERLAND, as one of the builders of Web3, is taking on a similar role — helping Web2 developers or applications migrate more smoothly to Web3. We believe that in Web3, users’ data will no longer be stored in centralised systems and can only be accessed through accounts controlled by individual internet giants. Instead, this data and assets should be stored on the blockchain, with users controlling their own data through advanced encrypted wallets, reshaping the system of accounts.

The result of this shift is data sovereignty. As data can be stored on the blockchain and owned by the users themselves, new possibilities are emerging. 4EVERLAND has been focusing on building the infrastructure for Web3 data storage, a new way to help users realize the value of decentralized social data. BUCKET enables users to upload, store, and fetch files from multiple protocols such as IPFS and Arweave in a secure, convenient way. Yes, sometimes it’s not that hard to decentralise an NFT.

Empowering NFT with infrastructure

Public blockchains, decentralised storage, decentralised deployment and other infrastructure have contributed to the spurt of the NFT ecosystem. Currently, Ether is the most used and highest recognized option in the NFT ecosystem. Also blockchains that are compatible with Ether drinking EVM could equally have a chance in the NFT boom, as these could be the de facto financial foundation of the blockchain space.

For Ether, the following article provides a tutorial on MINT NFTs on Ether via BUCKET:

Of course, the future of NFT depends on the development of the encryption industry as a whole. Bringing the Web3 experience to existing Web2 users will require greater effort and innovation. Currently, encryption users represent only 1% of the Internet population. The industry needs users familiar with the Web2 platform and to guide them towards a smooth migration to Web3, and this is where 4EVERLAND comes in. And the emergence of NFT not only as a cultural phenomenon, but also as a demonstration of the evolution of Web3 social networking.
