My Neighbor Totoro

A film which epitomizes an epoch and setting, indulging itself in showing viewers the cultural lifestyles and folklore of a specific region and zone in a Japanese outskirts village. Unusual for a Miyazaki film, it strays away of showing viewers a direct danger or problem within the film, as there is no “evil” or curse that haunts the protagonists, instead opting to show how characters deal with grief as the main evil, and how they interact and feel with the environment around them.
