MADISON, WI — After the post-pandemic return of the event last September, host league Madison Roller Derby rolled out the 2024 Udder Chaos invitational tournament as a springtime event for the first time since 2019.

MRD’s B-team, The Herd, faced Fargo-Moorhead Roller Girls of North Dakota, opening the tournament with a four-point jam from Amperslam. However, Fargo’s creative jam line formations led to enough points of their own for a lead change of 30–25 in jam 10 and never looked back, taking an 87–69 lead into halftime. Fargo steadily but patiently built on that 18-point halftime lead, emerging triumphantly from the inaugural game of Udder Chaos 2024 at a nearly comfortable 175–143.

MRD charter team Dairyland Dolls faced Kalamazoo Roller Derby for Game 2. The early jams on this warm and rainy evening revealed something of a rejuvenated Kalamazoo team, as the blocking was tough, the scoring was mutual, with too many lead changes for this reporter to keep track of, while the Dairyland Dolls hung on to a two-point lead at halftime, 76–74. The Kalamazoo jammer rotation maintained its momentum through the second half with veteran Weers Waldo getting enough support from the likes of Death Val-E, K-Otic, Machete Lane and Skatin’ Not Hatin’ to keep up with Dairyland’s veteran Darkhorse, with their own support from the likes of Dalek, LaMarche Madness and…
