For the next 5 words, an old friend gave me a set since the internets has been silent. Girl, boy, oil, zucchini, carrot are what we are working with. Here we go!

Travis stood nervously in front of the door. It had been so long since he had last been on a date that he wasn’t sure he remembered how to to do it anymore. Maybe he could back out, he thought. Take a step back and do coffee again. Maybe a fancy dinner. There was still time to hold onto the predictability of his life.

The bag of groceries in his hands were getting heavier and sweat was starting to bead on his palms. Travis knocked on the door.

“Hey, Tiffany!” Said Travis as the door opened. She was beautifully dressed-down for a night in.

“Hi! Come on in! Drop those bags on the counter” Said Tiffany.

Travis looked around the apartment. It was decidedly a mid-20 year old’s apartment. A transient place where the resident didn’t plan to lay down roots. Cheap furniture that you’d rather throw away then take with you. But the kitchen was well equipped with quality wares. At least the girl could cook.

“This was such a great idea to stay in tonight,” said Tiffany.

“Yeah. I hope you like truffles, because that’s what dinner’s going to be centered around,” said Travis.

“I’ve never had actual truffles before. Just truffle fries. What are you planning on making?”

“Well, I was just going to sprinkle it on everything.”

“That’ll work!”

Travis smiled at Tiffany. He couldn’t believe a girl ten years younger would be interested in him. He wasn’t rich or especially attractive. Just an average middle class guy with a stable job. He was eager to make an impression on her and was hopeful a new dining experience would do the trick.

“Want to get started? Asked Tiffany.

“Yeah, lets get to it,” said Travis.

The two started the prep work. Tiffany delicately cut into an onion. Layer by layer, her knife cuts pared away the round shape slowly until she had created a flower.

“Wow, you got some skills over there!” said Travis.

“You could learn anything from YouTube,” said Tiffany.

“I know it’s not fancy, but here’s a trick to dice it quickly,” said Travis.

He cut his onion in half then started making slices and dices until the onion was thoroughly chopped leaving only the end.

“The secret is to keep the end on so you can make all the cuts without it falling apart,” said Travis.

Tiffany caressed Travis’s hand lightly before grabbing the end piece of the onion.

“I’ll bet you have a lot of secrets, don’t you,” said Tiffany before she tossed the piece in the trash.

Travis smiled lightly and decided he would go all-in and see where the date would take him.

The two continued working on the meal. As they cooked, the light touches became more frequent and longer. Their bodies moved closer and closer as the dinner progressed. Travis could feel the attraction building on both ends. As they brought the plates to the table, he had a feeling this night would end well.

“Mmmm, impressive,” said Tiffany.

“You like the truffles?” Asked Travis

“I love the truffles. Now I know what they mean when they say it has an earthy taste.”

Tiffany was leaning forward. Travis moved in for a quick kiss surprising her.

“Wow, what was that all about?” Said Tiffany.

“Oh sorry, I thought…” said Travis.

“Come over on this side and give me a proper one,” said Tiffany.

Travis picked up Tiffany and they kissed long and slow. She nodded towards the bedroom and Travis obliged. Kissing along the way, Travis carried her towards the bedroom. She stopped Travis at the kitchen counter and reached for a carrot. Travis looked at her curiously. He had no idea what it was for. She then grabbed the oil and the zucchini. Now Travis was genuinely confused.

“This one’s for you,” Tiffany said with a devilish look on her face.

He barely heard her giggles as he brought her into the bedroom.

Travis walked briskly down the block from Tiffany’s house. Ass a little sore, he dwelled on the new romance that was kindling in his life. He imagined the new experiences and memories that he was going to make with Tiffany. Maybe he would tell her to lay off on stuff going up his butt. Or maybe not, he’d have to think about it.

Lost in his thoughts, he was brought back to reality by the vibrations of his phone. He pulled it out, looked down, and silenced it.

Travis slipped his finger into his small jean pocket. “Now he knew what that little pocket was for,” he thought, as he slid his wedding ring back on.

END

I’ll be honest, this was hard for me to write. I guess it’s not my genre. I need shit to blow up and shit. Maybe I should have made an assassin who kills with a carrot style martial art.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed that and definitely give me five things so that I can continue with my short story series. Thanks for reading and share if you like!
