Day 11: Maldives Magic

A taxi, 2 flights, a bumpy boat ride, and 17 hours later we arrive at the Four Seasons, Maldives. This Hawaiian mermaid is beyond HAPPY to be back in the sunshine surrounded by the ocean.

We had a good chuckle on the flight as we relived the phone scenario. Only this time it happened to me at take off. Once the seat belt sign turned off, the flight attendant awkwardly helped me retrieve it. No more of that please!

I’ve never seen a place as stunning as this. Crystal blue waters, hundreds of baby islands popping up out of nowhere, and the friendliest of people greeting us. We are completely removed from the outside world and all its craziness.

Simply Magical.

Upon check in, we catch wind of the shootings in Florida and immediately our blissful bubble is popped. We are deeply saddened by the nonsensicalness of this tragedy.

Not gonna lie, we are wiped. This will be home for the next seven days and we are excited to get settled in and rest up for a big day of surfing tomorrow. It will be Richards first experience!

The grounds are full of little secret surprises. Chinese New Year is tomorrow and the festivities have already begun. Can’t imagine how special the real celebration will be.

We wander over to the sunset bar for a mocktail. The Maldivians are clever with their displays of the finest libations.

Our final moments of daylight are enjoyed by watching the colors of the sky disappear while soaking in the sounds of Muslim chanting echoing in the distance.

The peaceful simplicity of the Maldives has won my heart. Curious. Would it capture yours as well?

Cheers to being Fifty, Fit, and Fabulous!
