Days 43–45: The Unplanned Detour

The Philippines wasn’t originally on our 50 day itinerary, however a few weeks into our trip we discovered we had quite a team growing there so we decided to hop in for a visit and help them grow.
Little did we know, the Philippines is not exactly a “hop away.” Unexpecteds like this are exactly what make the trip so magical.

We spent our three short days in Makati, the business district of Manila.
Immediately upon landing we went into our first event with a powerful, connected group of leaders who filled the room with the influencers of the area.

As we poured our hearts out about the value of creating leveraged income and the benefits of essential oils, next door a christian rock band belted praise to Jesus. Our walls shook with the beat of modern gospel which added a flavorful twist to the evening.

It always amazes me how quickly strangers become like family. The Makati team, as we call them, is full of life and vibrant personalities.

The next morning we headed out for a bit of exploration. Manila is very crowded. The traffic here is worse than LA. Sometimes it can take an hour to move as little as a block. We loved seeing the hustle and bustle of the financial hub. Locals crammed into little buses to get from point A to point B.
Richard was dying to ride in one. We were informed tourists don’t do that.

I got a pleasant little reminder of home when I came across a Teddy’s Bigger Burger on my walk. This burger shop started in Honolulu about 20 years ago by a couple I know. I’ve enjoyed many a burger here and was surprised to see their chain had made it to the Philippines.

For the most part, our days were spent meeting new members and teaching them how to build a business. It was a great feeling to watch so many people come to life around opportunity.

We had one nice “date” lunch but other than that we were in full on work mode which felt great.

This won’t be our only visit to the Philippines. We now have strong ties here that will bring us back. For now, it’s time to get prepped to head back to the states.

The international portion of our trip has come to an end. Not gonna lie. It’s bittersweet. I’m loving the idea of finishing my journey in the USA with my daughter however I am not ready for the wild ride with Richard to be over.

Tomorrow is all about air time. Vroom Vroom Vroom.

Cheers to being Fifty, Fit, and Fabulous!
