On December 15, the White Paper on Digital Twin City (2020) (hereinafter referred to as: “White Paper”) edited under the leadership of CAICT was published. 51WORLD, a leading digital twin platform company, participated deeply in the editing of the White Paper for two consecutive years, offered important contents for the typical features, general architecture and core capabilities of digital twin city and became the company contributing the most application scenes and implementation cases.

Liu Xiaolun, General Manager of 51WORLD Smart City Division, was invited to participate in the forum

51WORLD precisely fits nine core capabilities

The 2020 edition of the White Paper systematically analyzes the overall situation for the development of digital twin city from multiple perspectives of government, industry, academia, research and application. Based on the typical features and general architecture of digital twin city, compared with the 2019 edition, it defines the core capability framework of digital twin city at the current stage for the first time, systematically gives strategies and suggestions for construction and implementation, and plays an effective guiding role in the planning and construction of digital twin city in all localities.

The core capability framework contains nine parts: all-element digital expression capability, visual presentation capability, data fusion supply capability, spatial analysis and calculation capability, simulation and deduction capability, virtual-real fusion interaction capability, IOT perception and manipulation capability, self-learning and self-optimization capability, and crowdsourcing expansion capability. Among them, a large number of implementation cases of 51WORLD related products and capabilities are selected as benchmarks and typical references.

The White Paper points out that these core capabilities enable the digital twin city to have the core capabilities of accurate mapping, virtual-real integration and simulation, from which various capabilities such as automatic discovery of urban risks, active insight into operation laws, and tracking and traceability of human and material trajectories are derived, so as to provide strong support for building a modernized system of urban governance and governance capability.

As the industry leader of all-elements scenes of digital twin, the digital twin city operating system of 51WORLD — 51City OS is the digital twin base board of the city covering all-elements, all-processes, all-scenes, all-cycles and all-industries, which highly fits the core capability framework of digital twin city proposed by CAICT.

Based on all-element scene (AES), it can have five important values, including ultra-large scale real-time rendering, dynamic scheduling of massive resources, parallel generation of digital assets, visual and physical reality, and high spatial coding scalability, and provide the whole life cycle solutions and operation services of city status, planning, construction, management and simulation.

Nine typical applications, enriched line of industries

Among the 31 application cases of digital twin city selected by CAICT, 51WORLD participated in 9 typical applications and became the company contributing the most application scenes and implementation cases, including Smart City Command Center in Jiangbei New District of Nanjing, City Super Brain in Tongling, Smart Three Lakes in Yunnan, Intelligent Power Station Operation Platform of State Grid, Shenzhen Mawan Smart Port, Beijing Micro Traffic Simulation System, etc.

Display of cases:

▲City Super Brain in Tongling
▲Smart Three Lakes in Yunnan
▲Intelligent Power Station Operation Platform of State Grid
▲Shenzhen Mawan Smart Port
▲Beijing Micro Traffic Simulation System

The Research Report on Industry Mapping of Smart City (2020) is also published together with the White Paper and completely presents the industry mapping of smart city in seven links, including standards, top-level design, infrastructure, smart hub, smart applications, operation services, and network security. 51WORLD, along with Dassault Systemes SE, is a benchmark company of 3D modeling and model simulation in the city information modeling platform (CIM) sector of smart hub.

According to the White Paper, the digital twin city is no longer just an innovative concept and technical solution, but an inevitable path and future choice for the construction and development of new smart cities. The effects of multiple tasks, such as overall promotion of the CIM platform, compatibility and interoperability of data standards, cultivation of typical application scenes and market demand, and establishment of ecological cooperation mechanisms, will determine the level of development of the digital twin city in the next stage. This is also the direction that 51WORLD, as a digital twin platform company, will continue to work and explore together with its ecological partners.
