This week I wandered into Love & Luxe on Valencia Street in the Mission, a bright and welcoming jewelry shop with a warm, minimalistic aesthetic. Betsy Barron, owner of Love & Luxe and also a designer herself, has been making it point to keep her front door open to remind the community that her shop welcomes anyone in the community to come in and look around. Betsy has lived in the quickly evolving and diverse Mission neighborhood for 23 years, and looked for the perfect space for her dream shop for about 15 years. The first time meeting Betsy, I could tell instantly she was super passionate and exited about her shop and the forty artists she features.
Love & Luxe prides themselves on having all handmade products by local artisans, including rare small studio artists, and by designers from places as far as Africa, all in various price points. They carry wearable, comfortable, approachable pieces, and are even happy to help with custom work as well. They have anniversary and holiday events, art installations, trunk shows and workshops on a monthly basis. If you live in the Bay Area be sure to get on their mailing list!
Switching gears for a moment, in the news this week was also the story of Cecil the lion being irresponsibly hunted and killed in Zimbabwe, all for a trophy. I want to take the opportunity in this project to help the cause of endangered animals and support the Wildlife Conservation Society. 100% of the proceeds from sales of shirts and prints of this week’s drawing will go to benefit the organization.

Art meets fashion at Love & Luxe, a gallery and jewelry atelier located in the Mission district of San Francisco. Artist-in-residence Betsy Barron curates a unique collection of handcrafted wearable art from some of today’s most exciting metalsmiths and jewelry designers, alongside a selection of fine art and accessories. Work with our jewelers to design your custom wedding and commitment bands, rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
Hours of operation: 12–6 Wednesday and Thursday, 12–7 Friday, 11–7 Saturday, 12–5 Sunday
