AVOID regular toilet paper. SWITCH to water (bidet/mug) or recycled/tree-free/paper-wrapped toilet paper.

1. PROBLEM

“We wash every part of our body except the dirtiest part”

Gladly, 70% of us use water. And though water is the most sustainable option, the use of toilet paper is expected to increase in the next few decades.
I thought we’d be going green!

Toilet paper production per day stands at about 84 million rolls.

While the whole planet will definitely not to switch to water, it might be better to provide sustainable options instead.

2. SOLUTION (src)

1. Water

If there is anything I truely miss since I left India, it’s bidets!

To start of (if you haven’t used water before)

  1. If you have an old mug/bottle/glass you plan to throw away, use that to fill water from the sink and try it out. P.S I still do this.

To be more guest friendly, use bidets as shown in the image above.

1. Brondell
2. Toto toilets (have bidets and washlets)
3. Mrs. Bidet
4. Aqua

And watch a demo here :D

2. Tree Free

Tree-free is apparently softer than 100% recycled! + No trees!

1. Green2
2. Emerald
3. Nimbus

2. 100% Recycled Toilet Paper:

Americans use 8 million tons of toilet paper a year. If every US house used one roll of 100% post consumer recycled TP/year, it would save 423,900 trees.

Here are a few options you can buy online:
1. Who Gives A Crap
2. Seventh Generation, Unleached and smaller quantity
3. Marcal
4. Green Heritage
5. Tork
6. Natural Value

Zero-waste packaging! (Almost!)

TIPS

  1. Opt for toilet paper wrapped in paper instead of plastic
  2. If it comes wrapped in plastic, recycle the plastic film at the front of the grocery store. You can find a location here.

3. CONCLUSION

Water is Peace.

K baaaaye!
