DON’T use them. WEIGH them loose or use REUSABLE bags.

I. PROBLEM

We often tend to talk about the plastic bags but forget the flimsy green or transparent produce bags. When bananas already come in a bunch, why do we need to wrap it in plastic again?

Me when I look at others bagging one potato, one capsicum, one….

II. SOLUTION

1. Let them loose

No store has ever refused to weigh my fruits and vegetables without the extra plastic wrapping.

So don’t use them (even though it’s free!)
If you face issues, find another store or talk to the manager.

Instead of saying — plastic sucks; I can’t believe you are forcing me!— ask, won’t it save you tons of money if customers don’t use it? :)

2. Carry your own produce bags

$$$ Organic muslin BPA free biodegradable cloth bags OR
FREE old produce bags or old pillow cases, homemade bags, etc that you can reuse.

Doesn't matter. Keep washin it &
Just reuse the heck out of it.

3. Use produce bags that others discard without using.

If I forget my reusable bags (almost every single time) or run out of them (for beans, chillies, etc) I just look for some bag that a customer might have left. I don’t encourage you to spend hours doing this. Just look around for a few seconds or pick them up as you find them. If you don’t find any, make bisi bele bath next week!

Get creative — Use a hanky, scarf, anything you can think of! :)

FIN

Fruits and vegetables, unlike humans, can stay naked their whole life.
So let them be.
