100 Day Experiment: Days 2 + 3

Leave it to me to get all gung-ho about a 100 Day Experiment the day before I had to be a soccer mom for twelve hours.

Ruby had two soccer games and her end of the season party yesterday.

Here’s the exact reason why having a tiny goal like “exercise for 10 minutes a day” is awesome: it leaves room for life.

I mean, shit happens. Soccer days. Sick days. Travel days. All kinds of days. And if your goal is something like: exercise for an hour everyday, the chances are pretty good that if you can’t carve out an hour, you’ll just sip the whole thing.

And if you skip the whole thing today, that just makes it easier to just skip the whole thing tomorrow, too, right?

But a ten minute goal? You can find room in just about any day for ten minutes of something.

Yesterday, day two, I left the house at 7:30 in the morning (whoever decided that an 8:15 a.m. Saturday morning soccer game was a good idea is probably a sadist) and didn’t get home until 6 that night.

If I’d made a promise to go to the gym for an hour a day this month, I would have broken it on day two. There wasn’t time. There wasn’t energy. Forget it.

But — ten minutes? I walked around Ruby’s soccer field during her warm up. Actually got in thirty minutes.

Today is NWNWD — that’s Ninja Writers Novel Writing Day — in my Facebook Group. I’m committed to being near my computer all day long. So my ten minutes turned into a walk with my girl Mae around the block. Right at ten minutes.

Maybe I’ll do that again later. Maybe I won’t. Either way, it’s okay.

Three days down. Thanks for keeping me accountable.
