My Trainer is an Olympian. That’s cool, right?

100 Day Experiment: Day 5

My gym offers a ‘health evaluation’ and two sessions with a personal trainer when you sign up. Plus I bought four more sessions, for a total of six.

I went in for my health evaluation today.

It pretty much consisted of about three minutes with a lady where she asked me my goals and what concerns me the most. Strangely, she didn’t ask me about my health. (Here’s hoping the personal trainer will.)

Since I can barely move after my first cardio class experience, the concern on my mind was my very low fitness level and lack of endurance.

I’m pretty excited that she was able to talk this guy into being my personal trainer. He doesn’t normally take on clients. I really wanted to work with him, though, because he’s an Olympic swimmer and swimming is my jam.

I had a text that he’d be calling me to set up an appointment for our first session. I’ll keep you posted.

I walked a mile around the indoor track at the gym after my pretty non-existent health evaluation. It felt good to stretch out my poor muscles. I’ve been stiff as a board all day. Like ridiculously sore.

Day five, down. I was pleasantly surprised to not a strong difference in how I was able to manage a mile long walk. Zero pain (other than residual aches from yesterday’s class.) I gave myself permission with step one to stop after ten minutes. On the nose. But the walk felt good and I went the mile.

You know, I’ve got a giant goal ahead of me. Every little victory — silly thirty minute cardio classes that throw me for a loop, mile long walks that feel better than expected — are teeny, tiny steps toward it.
