It’s Not That Simple

We do our best to control what we can, we even do a good enough job to think we’re the ones pulling the strings.

After years of conditioning, we start to believe we’re the one’s keeping everything afloat.

Work hard. Stay patient. Show up. You’ve heard it all before.

But it’s not that simple.

We live in high-variable environments.

Sure, as a species we’ve done an excellent job of eliminating threatening variables such as malaria, smallpox, and hungry bears. But there is still a lot that can alter our course.

Small things. Hidden things. Things like ideas. Things like options. Things like people.

They’re all around us, tangling the strings we thought we so brilliantly control.

All of this is to say, when someone comes around with a simple framework to see the world, start poking holes. It’s never that simple.
