On June 24th, the Filecoin team updated its roadmap for June, sharing highlights about testnet Phase 2 development, Filecoin implementation, and ecosystem growth in June. The team also shared notable upcoming milestones. At the end of the update, the Filecoin official team also pointed out that under optimistic estimates, the mainnet will be launched as planned between the end of July to the beginning of August.

In this routine monthly update from the Filecoin team, we found a familiar name in the text.

The Filecoin team said special thanks to @hayeah for the sync improvement. 6Block is proud to share with the community that Howie Yeah @hayeah here is a core developer at 6Block. He is also a proud member in the Filecoin Security Research Fellowship along with 6Block Core developer Lee White.

Howie has assisted the Filecoin team to optimize the Peer relink in Filecoin. In the previous version, if the node was interrupted before the synchronization was completed, it had to restart the whole synchronization. Now it will continue to synchronize from the interruption.

This is just a small part of 6Block’s dedicated contribution to Filecoin. 6Block has more bug fixes and performance optimization pool request under official review.

In addition, 6Block also published our “community version” optimized mining software for free to the community, hoping to bring more fresh blood to the Filecoin community.

The “Community Edition” mining software has the following characteristics:

  • After the initial start-up, all subsequent operations are automated without manual intervention.
  • The sealing is completely completed by the worker. There is no network transmission except the final sealed sector (about 33 GB) back to the miner.
  • It can automatically find idle workers and start packaging operations.
After the program exits, it can be resumed after starting again. If there is a situation that cannot be recovered, you can file an issue.
  • Based on the recommended configuration, it is possible to run two sectors in a single machine in parallel, with a daily output of more than 200 GB.
Automatically set the FIL_PROOFS_MAXIMIZE_CACHING environment variable.
By default, LOTUS_STORAGE_PATH is not used to store files and separate directories.

According to tests, the packaging efficiency of this version is more than 70% higher than the official software.
